Yum! This was a good find. The Crab Rangoon were huge and had obvious bits of crab in them. I tried Soi Fun (I don't remember how to spell this), which I'd never had before. It had more meat and veggies than noodles, and that's exactly the way I hoped. The boy got governor's chicken, which was sweet, spicy and yummy. We will definitely come back - even he had leftovers.

This place has the best BBQ spareribs and BBQ pork strips in the north shore! Real BBQ at a Chinese restaurant, the BBQ sauce is the best I've tasted. Every on the menu is cooked to order, meaning fresh and tasty dishes. Very reasonably prices for the amount of food that is given. Lunch specials are a great bargain also.

I personally never trusted eating here because it looks really dirty from the ordering area, so I can only imagine what the "behind the scenes looks like". But, My husband loves this place. However, they are not great in the customer service. We were having people over last minute, so we thought we would order Chinese buffet for everyone. When I saw the coupon we had expired only the previous day... They would take it. It was only for $15 buck off (10% of the order). The guy told me they have new coupons out. I said I didn't have a new one yet, but he still wouldn't honor the 1 day old coupon. Since I thought that was less than courteous for a regular customer, we decided to try a other place in the area. I did not have a coupon for them, but when they saw we were first time customers , and that we had a menus that was a year old, without my asking ... They said "why don't you use the coupon on the menu". "We laughed and said it is from last year." They didn't care. Everyone loved the food. And now we have a new go to place. They also have a nice sit down dining room, unlike yu's Szechwan.

I love Chinese food and this place fulfills my hunger and taste. It's a small place right before entering into downtown Highland Park right by Jimmy John's and a cleaner. This place have only 3 tables and every time I go there seems empty, but have many take out orders. This place is run by a family who are very friendly and good cooks. Don't judge the place by how it looks, it doesn't look any nice place, very small, and actually doesn't really looks like a restaurant, but they offer one of the best Chinese you can get. Probably the best egg rolls, crab rangoons, orange chicken, and governor's chicken you can get in Chicago land area. They have special lunch manu daily. For $7, you get great portion of main dish, fried rice, and an egg roll. Even dinner menu most of them doesn't go more than $10. This is definitely my favorite Chinese take-out place.

Food was not good. We ordered egg drop soup (came with chicken?), egg roll (had pork in it!), won-ton soup (gummy hard) and dumplings (lousy). Not cheap either!

The best appetizer menu for a Chinese restaurant-EVER... you have to try their potstickers if you like crunchy, yet chewy potsticker wrappers. Their spareribs are their specialty and their eggrolls are HUGE, they are like Chinese burritos. They actually have meat and shrimp you could chew, not like the masticated egg rolls from like Panda Express. Order their fish and vegetables with a little chili oil sauce on the side. mmmm.mmmmmm

EW. Cheap gross chinese food without the cheap prices. If you look up their menu online, be aware that the prices are higher than what is on there. Basically your typical dive chinese spot, but not in a good way.

SENSATIONAL!!! We've been going there for 20 years (back when they were Golden Crow in Northbrook). Their pot stickers are the best I've ever had; I request hoison sauce with them. Love their entrees too. Friendly service - I love them!!! Easy parking in front too.

Very solid chinese food. I got the Beef Lo Mein and it had a good amount of meat, tasted fresh, and was flavored good. Their base sauce is really good. Don't judge a book by it's cover. I'm not sure where the other reviews get off calling this place disgusting. Me thinks fake accounts. Yelp algorithm do your job.

This is great chinese. It's cheap, fast, and delicious. We've only ever had the same order there: chef special lo mein, bbq spare ribs, and potstickers, but it's such a perfect meal that we don't really see any reason to look at anything else. Plus, the portions are HUGE-- that order (1 entree, 2 apps) is enough for 4 people, easily. It's definitely not the fanciest chinese food in the area, but for my money, it's the best bet.

Very solid Chinese food. Loved it when they were golden crown in northbrook and the quality has transferred to the highland park location. Their bbq spare ribs, beef chow fun and shrimp fried rice are my go to orders. Very consistent and fresh..

I don't know how this place has so many decent reviews subpar Chinese food low-quality

Out on my lunch break... Stopped by this little spot.. I must say looks can be deceiving. Little place but big flavor and portions. I had the general tso chicken and I have to say it's the best I ever had.. Best egg rolls by far too.. I can't speak for the other stuff on the menu but if that taste anything like what I had I'm sure u won't be disappointed! A must try.

Best Chinese food in the Highland Park area. Fresh and yummy. Egg rolls were fair, but other dishes including Hunan Chicken, Szechwan Shrimp and Fried Rice are very good! Delivery is fast, too.

Ate there last night and ate my leftovers this morning (my husband ate his as soon as we got home, sweet's sour chicken) so good! . Constantly delicious! Exactly what I want from a Chinese Restaurant. Seriously, the owners are so nice, family owned, they will answer any of my questions about what to order. This is only place on the north shore that makes me not to go all the way to Chinatown. I ate the hunon chicken with egg roll and fried rice. So good I am still thinking about it. Next time I am in Highland Park I will be eating here. Not to be missed!

This placed changed owners or chefs. The food was disgusting. Too bad, used to be decent. We ordered won ton soup (the won tons were bulky and tasteless), Mongolian beef (odd tasting), Fish with vegetables (the fish was somehow coated and deep fried before being cooked in a salty weird tasting sauce), shrimp and Chinese broccoli (they used these tiny shrimps).

We just got the combo fried rice to go. The space inside is small but they had some tables in case you want to eat there. The fried rice was decent but lacking a little flavor. I was hoping the combo would be pork chicken and shrimp but it was pork beef and chicken. Decent amount of veggies but i would have preferred more. decent size pieces of meat but have definitely had larger, though some people don't find that appealing in their fried rice. All in all, i would order again to try more of their menu and update my review. but what do i know, go check it out and yelp that shit

We just ordered takeout from this restaurant for the first time. We ordered the walnut shrimp and it tasted more like an Italian fried shrimp dish then Chinese. This is probably the worst take out that I have ever had. So disappointing!

I had a lunch take out from here once. It was just not decent at all. It was overly salty and greasy.

My Go To Chinese place! After living in downtown HP for over a year I have had the opportunity to try almost every take out Chinese in town. I think that this one is my favorite. It is nothing special to look at, especially the small pick up/dining area..but the food stands out from the other joints in its genre because they use REAL cuts of meat!!! The chicken is a legitimate, whole chicken tender. Breaded and cooked in whatever way you desire. The pork and beef seem a little less cheap than some other places. I especially like the sesame chicken, beef & broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, and pot stickers. Their dinner come with a healthy size portion of fried rice for an additional dollar and an egg roll. To sum it up, for decent, cheap Chinese, this is the place for you.

Amazing vegetable eggroll! Beef and broccoli is perfect especially if you ask for Chinese broccoli. Singapore fried noodles is my absolute favorite Chinese dish and they do an amazing rendition here.

The best Chinese food ever. I just wish they would remodel or paint or something. Every time I walk in there and look at the ceiling, I reach for my SARS mask. But the food is amazing!!! 5 stars even with the skeevy ceiling.

All of our food was pretty bland, even the ones that were indicated as "spicy" on the menu.

This is one of the worst Chinese carry-out places from which I have EVER gotten food. It was almost inedible. Goopy, off-flavors; terrible.

Amazing food! Great quality. I love the Chow fun noodles! We use to go a place in Deerfield but Yu's is now our go to for Chinese take out!

Wow, I'm glad fellow Yelpers pointed out this hidden gem in Highland Park. I've driven by it many times in the past, and had left-overs from there before from generous co-workers... I figured it would be like the various other Chinese and pan-Asian restaurants in the area - good food, but nothing 5-star. Upon seeing the good reviews online, my girlfriend and I decided we should carry out from Yu's, and go eat at Sunset Woods Park (just across the way). Both of us were left stammering about how good our egg rolls, pork pot stickers, and main dishes were. I'm usually underwhelmed by egg rolls, but these were very generous with the veggies, and probably prepared in very clean oil. Our main dishes featured very tender meat, and well-prepared veggies, along with tasty fried rice. And the port pot stickers... I've had a lot of pot stickers. I mean a ~LOT~ of pot stickers. Yu's pot stickers are my new favorite, in the North Shore, and probably among my top 10 in the world. I'm definitely going to carry out from here more often!

I have had them deliver food several times. Ma Po Tao Fu (spicy bean curd) was as good as I'd hoped and as spicy as I'd requested. Egg Fu Young was generous and tasted great. Soup and noodle dishes were just fine. No complaints. Can't comment on dining at the restaurant. I'd send a friend there.

Yu's is a solid, inexpensive choice for Chinese in the Highland Park area, and they have the right idea by being open on Monday nights when a lot of other Chinese places are closed. What I really like about Yu's, is that they have dinner specials similar to the lunch specials many Chinese places do, where you get an entree with steamed or fried rice, and an egg roll for less than $10. I had the sweet and sour chicken, which was HUGE pieces of chicken, with the sauce on the side, which I was appreciative of. The sauce is not the traditional neon orange sweet and sour sauce that usually comes with this dish, rather a darker sauce which is MUCH more flavorful. There are several good Chinese options in the area, I'll be keeping Yu's in mind for Monday's!

This is hands down best Chinese food in Highland Park. I'd like to say that I enjoy how they are using real chunks of meat. Not those normal tiny pieces. They have great lunch and dinner specials. All of the food tasted very fresh. I'd highly recommend this place to any others.

Formerly Golden Crown of Northbrook. Mainly carry out though few tables too, BYOB. Can hold its own with anything in Chinatown. Try their seafood dishes, ask if not on the menu. One of the best homemade chili pastes I have ever had and that includes NYC and San Francisco.

Ordered delivery today. As always with Chinese, I am already hungry when I order. The food came to my door quickly (about 30 minutes, even though I was told 40), and was piping hot. The food was delivered with a smile. The Governors Chicken was the right kind of fried..not too much batter, but crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. High quality white meat chicken, and a unique spicy sauce. The BBQ ribs were a pleasant surprise. Crispy, meaty, and a nice mild BBQ sauce. I was too full to eat my beef fried rice, but that will be good tomorrow night with my other leftovers. I finally found an all around VERY good Chinese carry-out place in the North Shore. Something that has been missing...

This place is run by the same owners from Golden Crown from Northbrook. It has the same great food, such as the BBQ ribs/pork, egg rolls, pot stickers...The BBQ pork lomein and special wonton soup are delicious.

This doesn't seem like any place fancy, but the food as AMAZING. It's definitely much better than PF Changs; in fact, it's an insult to Yu's to compare the two. Every vegetable was fresh, and the food is not too salty, but not blend at all. I'd drive nearly an hour just to eat their food. The best Chinese food in the World

Great Chinese Food! The owners are the former owners of Golden Crown in Northbrook and the food is as good as ever. Things to try.. Egg Rolls, BBQ Pork, Won Ton Soup. Their Sweet and Sour Chicken is the best on the north shore! I also love their Curry Special Lo Mein. The owners are great and very nice!!! Give it a try!

the people that run it are wonderful. I am a huge fan of the plum sauce and the dumplings which are as big as your fist. It's well run, the parking is easy and the delivery service is usually on time.

The Chinese food here is authentic and very tasty! You can always measure a great Chinese restaurant by how the fried rice is made. Everything on the menu is delicious - especially the short ribs and pot stickers!!! Their soups are fresh and not starchy. This is one of my favorite Chinese take-out food in the North Shore.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
